Legendary Southern California stoner rockers Fu Manchu recently played a crushing show at Sacramento’s Ace of Spades. It was their final US show on their current tour before embarking on a summer European jaunt.

Fu Manchu

Fu Manchu, who are out on tour supporting the excellent double album The Return of Tomorrow, played a 90-minute set that encompassed songs from throughout their career. The band have been at it for almost four decades, with an exceptional career that has seen a  variety of lineup changes since first forming in Orange County in 1985.

Fu Manchu

The current iteration features founding guitarist turned lead vocalist Scott Hill, bassist Brad Davis, lead guitarist Bob Balch, and drummer Scott Reeder. They are a pretty ripping unit and they proved it with a set that not only featured the new record, but dipped into numerous excellent tracks from eight different albums. They are going down the road strong for a band that is nearly forty years into their career, with little sign of them hitting the brakes.

Dusted Angel

Opening the show were Dusted Angel, a Santa Cruz area band that features members of a variety of local groups. The band played a solid set.
