Nearly 50 years after playing their infamous final show at San Francisco’s legendary Winterland Ballroom, the Sex Pistols return to the city — and to a piece of their own history — for one night on their current tour. The band, which now features Gallows frontman Frank Carter taking over for Johnny Rotten, will hit The Warfield on October 14 to play their seminal Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols record in its punk rock chaotic entirety.
“We were thinking of breaking Up in San Francisco again,” joked guitarist Steve Jones. Added bassist Glen Matlock, “We’re a bit older, but we play just as well, if not better. And I think that’s something that’s got a great deal of aplomb that we’re going to bring to the public.”
Since their breakup show, they’ve only played SF one other time — back in 2003.
