Baby Snufkin to Play Their First Bay Area Show in 25 Years

Last month Baby Snufkin frontman Scrote (Angelo Bundini) woke up to a text from Adrian Belew, simply asking, “Baby Snufkin?” The two have worked together in various capacities for years, but Scrote had never mentioned the band that he had been a part of in the mid-90s to Belew. Following an appearance by the band BEAT (Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, Steve Vai, and Danny Carey) on Rick Beato’s YouTube channel, people have been coming out of the woodworks online talking about how much they love Baby Snufkin. One such fan had written on Adrian’s social media that Baby Snufkin was his favorite band for years after seeing them open for Primus in Vienna. Another Baby Snufkin fan wrote in from Boston saying the band stayed at his house after a show, another had a story of late night post show shenanigans from Seattle, another from Berlin, another from New York, San Francisco, and so on and so forth. Adrian had to know all about Baby Snufkin.

Following this newfound interest, Baby Snufkin have reunited and have put out a two-song live single titled Snufkin Comes Alive as well as a five-song EP of new songs called More Everything. The band sees Scrote on vocals and guitar, Jab on trumpet, Stammi on bass, and Mig on drums as well as bassist Bert and drummers Rico and Ernesto. The band’s trademark proto-punk and new wave sound is still intact, and the new songs are a treat for old and new fans alike. Having not performed a show in a twenty-five years, all of that is about to change very soon.

On July 27th at The Kilowatt in San Francisco, Baby Snufkin will be playing their first show in the Bay Area in a quarter of a century. The show will see two different line-ups of the band perform two different sets of both classic and new Baby Snufkin material. Doors are at 2pm with the show going on until 6pm in the evening. Having been performing in various other bands together since the dissolution of Baby Snufkin in the late 1990s, the band members aren’t calling this a comeback, and neither should you. It’s just Baby Snufkin’s next show and as always they vow to make it a memorable one. Tickets are available here.
