Sypher combines three huge talents with drummer Dave Lombardo (Slayer among others), bassist Bill Laswell (Material, Painkiller, Herbie Hancock), and violinst Dorian Cheah. Studio wizard Oz Fritz will provide live mixing. This night promises to be intense, loud, and out there.
Multiple Grammy winnder Lombardo is an original founding member of Slayer, playing on seven albums and countless tours. He has also recorded tracks for television and films and worked with tons of other performers including Testament and John Zorn.
Bill Laswell pioneered multi-genre music performing and recording everything from traditional jazz to Indian fusion to hardcore and noise. As a producer hee was responsible for Herbie Hancock’s Rockit, which forever changed jazz fusion and produced artists including Iggy Pop, the Ramones, Pharoah Sanders, and a host of musicians from Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America.
Cheah is an Emmy-nominated composer, producer, and arranger from Pittsburgh, PA. He began playing violin at age 2 ½ and moved to New York to study with Dorothy De Lay and Naoko Tanaka at The Juilliard School. He is known for his unique sound on the electric violin and has recorded two albums with Laswell.
