The 12th edition of the Aftershock music festival lands in Sacramento the weekend of October 10-13. The four-day heavy music festival has grown into a massive West Coast attraction since its inception in 2012. In fact, it has become one of the largest music festivals in the United States.
That may be because the lineups are always very strong and feature some of the very best in heavy music. This year is no different. In fact, some could argue, one of the best. The lineup will feature a special Saturday night with British heavy metal giants Iron Maiden and Judas Priest topping a splendid day that will also feature Anthrax, Clutch and Rival Sons.
There will be four days of music with bands on five different stages in Sacramento’s Discovery Park.
Other four day weekend highlights include a Thursday night with the return of the mighty Slayer on one of only three reunion shows they will do since retiring five years ago. That evening also features the renewed Pantera lineup with Zakk Wylde on guitar and Charlie Benante of Anthrax on drums. Additionally, that day one can see Ministry, Cypress Hill, and Halestorm, as well as the debut of a solo band by Till Lindeman of Rammstein that is certain to garner some curiosity.
Friday night includes festival favorites and masked maniacs Slipknot, along with Five Finger Death Punch and Mastodon, who will be performing their legendary Leviathan album in its entirety. Also performing that day are Dropkick Murphys, Daren Malakian of System of a Down, Marky Ramone performing Ramones songs, as well The Warning a stunning female melodic metal band out of Monterrey, Mexico. Additionally, local favorite Hemorrhage will make their Aftershock debut after creating a sensation with their instant shows played in their van covered into a stage after local metal shows had gotten out.
Sunday closes out with Motley Crue, Disturbed and Flogging Molly among many others. That day also includes Falling in Reverse, Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine, and Juliette Lewis and the Licks, featuring the star of Natural Born Killers on vocals.
The festival takes place in Sacramento’s Discovery Park and festival goers can select single day or multiple day passes for the festival.
